Mosedale is a peaceful and unspoilt hamlet at the foot of Carrock Fell (2172'). It gives access to the delightful Caldew Valley with its attractive river, pools and falls. All the 'Back O Skidda' fells - Bannerdale Crags, Blencathra, Bowscale, Great Calva, High Pike, Skiddaw etc - are within walking distance. Mosedale is just 3.5 miles north of the A66 Penrith to Keswick main road so it is within easy reach of most of the popular beauty spots of the Lake District and the Eden Valley.

Many other areas are accessible as day trips such as the Solway Coast, the Scottish Border country, Hadrian's Wall, the Yorkshire Dales and the Pennines. Within the immediate vicinity there are a wide range of activities available, including bird watching, canoeing, fell walking, fishing, golf, hang and paragliding, microliting, pony trekking, rock climbing, sailing, spinning, pottery and other crafts. There are plenty of galleries and gardens open to the public.

There are many visitor attractions and numerous sites of historical and industrial archeological interest. In addition the area is of outstanding geological interest - a mecca for those interested in minerals. For those interested in wildlife the Northern Lake District has a bewildering range of habitats. Here you will find buzzards, perigine falcons, red squirrels, deer, badgers...... the list is endless.
